My spring memoir and personal essay writing class will take place on Zoom on Wednesdays, 1 to 2:30pm EST, April 29 to June 17th, 2026 (skipping May 27). My summer class will take place seven Wednesdays, 1pm to 2:30pm EST, from July 1 to August 19, 2026 (skipping July 29).
During class, we pay attention to things like tension, voice, plotting and structure. We look closely together at masterful personal essays and excerpts from excellent memoirs to see how they achieved their impact. And we have writers visit our zoom to discuss questions students have. Between classes, students will be tasked with writing one moment from their lives for thirty minutes a day — it’s harder than it sounds, and much, much more productive than it seems it would be.
Class fee is non-refundable.
